Believe or not, we all get Sunday scaries. That anxious, dreadful, lonely feeling. It’s time to do something about them.

When it’s Sunday night and game of thrones is over…

Most of you have probably experienced the Sunday scaries – that anxious feeling knowing that the weekend is over and work/school is right around the corner. Your to-do list starts running through your mind and suddenly you realize how much you have to do. You don’t want Monday to come so you try to find ways of making Sunday last longer. Some revert to “Sunday-funday’s” others try to relax and binge on Netflix. Whether you’re older or a millennial we have all experienced this feeling, however there is a new spin on Sunday scaries, and now it’s worse than ever.


When you start to scroll through on a Sunday night, you begin to feel a sense of loneliness especially if you are single. These lonely Sunday scaries are normal and you need to remind yourself of that.

Enter the lonely Sunday scaries…Imagine that it’s Sunday night, you head home from dinner and your favorite Sunday night show just ended. This is when you realize the weekend is almost over. You begin dreading tomorrow and flipping through Instagram. You are suddenly hit with a huge wave of anxiety looking at a heap of images of couples and people with friends having fun. You start to feel sad, anxious and lonely all at the same time. Here is the good news, you’re not alone! This happens to everyone, whether you’re single, recently out of a relationship or even in a relationship.

People share photos to highlight the good times, which usually occur on the weekends. As a result, you get a flood of post to Instagram and Facebook. When you start to scroll through on a Sunday night, you begin to feel a sense of loneliness especially if you are single. These lonely Sunday scaries are normal and you need to remind yourself of that. Like you, many people are doing exactly what you are doing on Sundays. It’s time to remove this Sunday routine.


So how do you eliminate lonely Sunday scaries?

Make a plan not to look at social media past a certain time. Have a Sunday night routine to call your friend across the country or a family member. Meditate, find a calming hobby or read. If you still have a lonely feeling, do something about it. Join a group, sports-team or a class. Meet new people and don’t be scared. Just remember you’re not alone and this is a “thing”, but for now let’s leave the Sunday scaries to just that, Sunday scaries.
